The Maryland State Police uses the National Police Officer Selection Test (POST) examination. Each section will evaluate a different critical job function that a Maryland State Trooper will perform. This nationally recognized examination is generally scheduled on the same day as the FFAT.
The POST is made up of four sections:
- Mathematics
- Reading Comprehension
- Grammar
- Report Writing Skills
To prepare for the written exam, an applicant is encouraged to use study guides.
Numerous resources are available if you need additional preparation for the written exam. The
MAACC listing for MDSP document provides a comprehensive list of aides.
