On September 5, 1972 Diane Williams failed to return home. On September 6, 1972 at 6:30 a.m. a motorist noticed the body of a female on the shoulder of the Route 295 (Baltimore Washington Parkway) a quarter mile north of the Maryland/D.C. Line in Prince George's County, MD and notified police. On September 6, 1972 the father of Diane Williams reported her missing to the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. The body located on the shoulder of Route 295 was identified as that of Diane Williams who died of strangulation.
