On January 11, 2001 at 6:40 p.m.Ray Hamlet was walking out of the dining hall at the Maryland House of Corrections where he was an inmate, when he was stabbed with a home made shank by another inmate. Hamlet had argued earlier with another inmate. Hamlet was housed in the Annex Building at the Maryland House of Correction in Jessup Anne Arundel County, MD at the time of his death.
