Robert left his residence in Pennsylvania on December 22, 1982 and was due to return the following day. When Robert did not return home his roommate reported him missing on December 25, 1982 to the East Hemfield Township Police in Pennsylvania. On December 29, 1982 Robert Sipling's body was recovered down an embankment on Maryland Route 27 just south of Martin Drive in Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland by a citizen riding a dirt bike. It was alleged Sipling was involved in the drug trade.
