The MSPAC Fixed Wing Section operates a 1986 Piper Saratoga with fixed gear and a non-turbocharged engine. This configuration allows for increased reliability and reduced cost of operation.

The aircraft is well equipped with a two axis autopilot and moving map WAAS GPS.  It features a cabin area capable of carrying four passengers.  It has a forward and a rear baggage area capable of holding 200 lbs. With full fuel of 102 gallons the aircraft can carry 544 pounds with an endurance of over six hours while cruising at 135-140 knots. The aircraft has also been equipped with an APEX portable radio of the same con-figuration now available in the AW-139, allowing the aircraft to be used for search and rescue, surveillance missions, as well as emergency transport of maintenance personnel and aircraft parts/equipment to remote parts of the state.
