On December 23, 1975 a truck driver discovered a body in a field on the east side of Maryland Route 75, about 200 feet north of Maryland Route 144, 1/2 mile east of New Market in Frederick County, MD. The victim has been shot to death. The body was subsequently identified as Chopan Byrd who was from Baltimore, MD. Two individuals were arrested at the time, however the cases were never tried for lack of evidence.
