On July 14, 1997 at 8:00 a.m. inmate Willie Owens was housed in a cell with another inmate in Cell 111, F Building East Pod, of the Maryland Correctional Institute in Jessup, Anne Arundel County, MD. Willie Owens was found unresponsive on the floor of his cell. It was deteremined that Owens died as a result of blunt force trauma. No arrest was made due to lack of evidence.
