The Licensing Portal

In accordance with the Firearms Safety Act of 2013, the Maryland State Police have developed a web/mobile accessible Licensing Portal where citizens may submit, and Maryland firearms dealers have the ability to access, firearms applications. The Portal is a web ‘dashboard’ that provides citizens the ability to submit and track multiple application types.

Initially, it provided firearms dealers the ability to access and submit 77R applications to MSP on behalf of their customers, and MDSP the ability to receive, process and report on multiple application types via a single system.

As of October 1, 2019, Licensing Division expanded the Licensing Portal to include an automated Handgun Permit (Wear/Carry) application. All original, renewal, subsequent, modification, and replacement requests are now submitted and processed electronically through the Portal.

Portal Support

Division personnel are available to provide assistance for both the dealers and the general public.  We are available via email at:
msp.firearmsregistration@maryland.gov, or msp.handgunpermits@maryland.gov, and via phone at: 410-653-4500. Regulated Firearms Dealers can also obtain assistance via the Livehelp feature within the Licensing Portal.
