Every year, thousands of people in Maryland become victims of vehicle theft and carjackings. A car is stolen every 27 minutes in Maryland. In the United States, it is every 42​ seconds.

Whether it’s to resell parts, steal identities, or make quick cash, criminals are always looking for easy targets. The Maryland Vehicle Theft Prevention Council has  provided several tips for protecting yourself and preventing carjacks and thefts.
