Qualifications
All of our Flight Paramedics are sworn Maryland State Troopers. The qualifications necessary to be considered as a Trooper/Flight Paramedic (in addition to the Basic Trooper qualifications) are:
- National Registry Paramedic certification
- Maryland Paramedic certification (or eligibility for reciprocity)
- At least 2 years Paramedic Experience in Prehospital Setting
- Flight Paramedic Certification or Critical Care Paramedic Certification (Recommended)
- Rotor wing flight experience (Recommended)
BENEFITS
Annual Salary Increases, contingent upon funding, based on 18-step scale to top base pay for a Master Trooper of $124,973.
Automatic Promotions & Salary Increases to Trooper First Class (after three years), Senior Trooper (10 years) and Master Trooper (15 years).

Associate's Degree can be earned upon graduation from the Academy at no cost.
COMPENSATION
(As of July 1, 2024)
Base Pay Upon Academy Graduation: $68,673
Pay Upon Completion of Rescue Technician Training: $71,173
Uniform Allowance: $1,500
Fitness Bonus: $1,000
Educational Bonus: $150-500
Shift Differential: $2.00 / hour
