Maryland State Police Arrests Cecil County Man In Connection With Two Separate Assault Incidents

News |

(North East) – Maryland State Police arrested and charged a Cecil County man in connection with two reported assaults on females within the last month.

The accused is identified as Edward Jackson Bunn, 53, of North East, Maryland. Bunn was arrested on June 10, 2026 and is currently being held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center.

Bunn's first arrest in Cecil County occurred on May 8, 2026 in connection with a reported sexual assault involving a woman in North East.  The victim reported to police that Bunn was her new neighbor in an apartment building when the incident occurred. Following an investigation by the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division and consultation with the Office of the State’s Attorney in Cecil County, Bunn was charged with fourth degree sex offense, second degree assault, false imprisonment and other related criminal charges.  He was held on a $25,000 bail and later released after posting bond.

On May 20, 2026, Bunn was arrested in Cecil County a second time for a violation of probation resulting from a conviction in Charles County, Maryland. Bunn was released on his own recognizance on May 22, 2026.

Investigators believe three days after his second release, Bunn responded to a residence in Perryville, Maryland where he attempted to force entry into the residence of a second victim. Subsequent investigation revealed Bunn had allegedly been stalking the second victim since October 2025.

She informed police that Bunn had visited her place of employment, her home, and places where she shopped.  The Perryville victim, a long-distance runner, also advised police that Bunn had followed her numerous times while in his truck when she was out running. Police believe Bunn repeatedly used his blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck to stalk and harass the woman multiple times by parking in areas to watch her and to follow her while she was running.

Following consultation with the Office of the State’s Attorney in Cecil County, Bunn was charged with second degree assault, stalking, harassment, attempted burglary and other related criminal charges for numerous incidents that occurred between October 2025 through May 2026 involving the Perryville woman. Information gleaned throughout the Perryville investigation by the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division led to the subsequent arrest and most recent charges placed against Bunn.

Bunn was arrested by Maryland State Police without incident on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 and transported to the North East Barrack for processing. Bunn is currently being held without bond at the Cecil County Detention Center.

The victims in both cases are not being identified at this time.  Neither of the women reported any injuries during the incidents involving Bunn.
