State Police Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash In Howard County

News |

(WOODBINE, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Howard County.

The deceased is identified as Shakee Ali Davis, 32, of Havre de Grace, Maryland. He was a passenger in an Isuzu box truck involved in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on the scene. The operator of the box truck, identified as Noah Ensminger, 21, of Elkton, Maryland, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Shortly before 4 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Waterloo Barrack responded to eastbound I-70, near Morgan Station Road, for a report of a two-vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation indicates that both vehicles were traveling east on I-70 when a Genesis G80 struck the rear of the box truck, subsequently causing the box truck to lose control, strike a guardrail, and overturn.

In consultation with the Office of the State’s Attorney in Howard County, the operator of the Genesis, identified as John Amare, 18, of Damascus, Maryland, was charged with negligent motor vehicle homicide while under the influence, motor vehicle homicide while impaired by alcohol, negligent manslaughter, and other related charges and citations. He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.

Lanes were closed for approximately four hours for the crash investigation. The Maryland State Police Crash Team continues to lead the active and ongoing investigation.
