Leo Shroyer was last seen alive on October 22, 1976 at approximately 5:30 p.m. walking toward his home. Leo was retired and lived alone. On October 22, 1976 Maryland State Police received an anonymous telephone call to check on the welfare of Leo Shroyer. On October 22, 1976 at approximately 6:30 p.m. when Maryland State Police arrived at Shroyer's residence located in Ellerslie in Allegany County, MD Shroyer was found deceased in his garage. Robbery appeared to be a motive in the murder.
