If you move to Maryland and establish residency, you must register any regulated firearms with the Maryland Department of State Police (MDSP) within 90 days of establishing residency.

There have been no changes to the registration process in the past 12 months.
How to apply
New resident registration is completed online through the eMDSP Online Services Page.
You will need to provide the following information for each regulated firearm:
- Make
- Model
- Serial Number
- Caliber
- Firearm Type
- Barrel Length
- Finish
- Country of Origin
Registration fees
Acceptable methods of payment include Visa or MasterCard. Registration fees are non-refundable.
All registration fees are collected electronically.
New Resident Registration: $15.00*
*There is no additional fee for registering multiple firearms
Application timeline
Applicant: The registration application can be completed in the eMDSP Online Services website within 10-30 minutes.
Licensing Division Processing Time: Once the Licensing Division electronically receives the completed New Resident registration application and the required registration fee, the application will be processed and the applicant will be notified, via email, of the final disposition within 7 days.
