The Police Selection Committee (PSC) is the final step in the application process.
An applicant's file will be presented to the PSC, a board of five (5) permanent members from various units within the Maryland State Police. All phases of an applicant's process are assessed by the board to determine their competitiveness toward a seat in an academy class.
The presentation DOES NOT include the applicant's age, sex, race or medical information.
The PSC will band an applicant in one of the following competitive categories:
Applicants banded BEST, BETTER and QUALIFIED will be ranked to determine competitiveness in an academy class.
Applicants banded POORLY Competitive will be disqualified from the process.
